Avigilon Hub Mediator
Avigilon Hub Mediator is an integrated suite of integration modules for Avigilon Unity Access, developed by TechWin. It bundles BACnet, SNMP and OPC capabilities into a single commercial package, enabling organisations to extend their access control system into building automation ecosystems, IT network management, and industrial infrastructure.
Avigilon Hub Mediator is a commercial suite developed by TechWin that brings together four distinct integration modules for Avigilon Unity Access, each implemented as a Windows service with a dedicated desktop configuration tool. It was designed for organisations that need to connect their access control system to heterogeneous technology infrastructures — from building automation to IT networks and industrial systems — without resorting to custom development.
The BACnet Mediator module establishes communication between Avigilon Unity Access and BACnet-compatible building management systems (BMS/BAS), following the ANSI/ASHRAE 135 standard. This integration allows access control events — such as door openings, alarms, or occupancy states — to be exposed as BACnet objects, making them consumable by HVAC, lighting, fire detection, or other building subsystems. It is the ideal solution for facilities running open, interoperable building automation platforms, such as hospitals, airports, or large industrial complexes.
The SNMP Mediator module enables Avigilon Unity Access to integrate with SNMP-compatible (Simple Network Management Protocol) network monitoring platforms. Through this module, access control events and system states can be translated into SNMP traps and forwarded to network management systems (NMS), allowing IT teams to monitor the health and status of the physical security system from the same tools they already use to manage switches, servers, and firewalls. It supports SNMPv1, v2c, and v3, with custom MIB support for precise integration.
The OPC Mediator module connects Avigilon Unity Access to SCADA, HMI, and industrial automation platforms via the OPC protocol (OLE for Process Control / OPC-UA). This integration is especially relevant in industrial environments where physical access control needs to interact with operational processes — for example, conditioning access to production areas based on a line's operational state, or exposing physical security events to a SCADA system for correlation with process data. The module operates as an OPC server, making Unity Access objects and events available as tags accessible by any compatible OPC client.
All modules are managed through a Windows configuration tool, which allows each service to be independently installed, configured, and monitored without requiring programming skills. Avigilon Hub Mediator positions Avigilon Unity Access as a central physical security hub, fully interoperable with the technology ecosystem already in place within each organization.
BACnet Mediator: Integration with BMS/BAS systems via the BACnet protocol (ANSI/ASHRAE 135), exposing Unity Access events and states as BACnet objects
SNMP Mediator: SNMP trap forwarding to NMS platforms, with support for SNMPv1, v2c, and v3 and custom MIBs
OPC Mediator: Exposure of Unity Access events and states as OPC tags for integration with SCADA, HMI, and industrial automation systems
Independent Windows services: Each module runs as an autonomous Windows service, with automatic startup and background operation
Desktop configuration tool: Dedicated Windows interface for installing, configuring, and monitoring each module, with no programming required
Native Avigilon Unity Access integration: All modules integrate natively with Unity Access, with no modifications to the core system
